Handicapping American Idol 6

Finale - Jordin wins. Yawn.
Wednesday, May 23, 2007

You'll notice that I'm not blogging the entire finale. Just. Too. Much. I'll announce the winner, though. I anticipate it will be Jordin.

High points so far - Kelly Clarkson. GREAT song. Dig her.

TAYLOR HICKS!! Absolutely my favorite American Idol! GREAT performance.

Thought the Sgt. Pepper thing was weird. Taylor's part was pretty cool. Carrie wins the award for absolutely the best looking American Idol. The BEE AAH TTLES medly was nice. They're running WAY over time, though. It's 10pm and no winner yet.

And the winner IS...

JORDIN SPARKS

I thought having the past Idol winners come back was excellent. Kelly was amazing, Carrie and Taylor both did a fantastic job. Not going to lie though, I nearly forgot about poor Ruben. Anyway, the finale may have been a time-waster, but it went by relatively fast. I can't say I'm a huge Jordin fan, but she is the quintessential American Idol. I'll be looking forward to Blake's CD nonetheless. Thanks for the updates all season long, it's been great!

My late breaking comments, in case anyone is still reading this. First of all: Jeez Rena! You ruined it for me! I opened your blog to read as I watched the show, (like I always do), and bam, it's right there, "Jordin wins". No suspense at all, (ok, like there really was any to begin with). Overall I actually thought it was a pretty good show from an entertainment standpoint. Lots of good performances, some I FFed through, (the children's chorus, Sanjaya, Green Day and Bette Midler). Carrie is a good looking woman, but they gave her weird hair, big on the sides and flat on top. Her first song was ok, but Chrissie definitely does it better. And she looked WAY better in a little black dress that Kelly. That min and boots look is NOT good for her with those tree-trunk legs, (and talk about hair, that hairstyle was awful). The girls with Gladys were better than the guys with Smokey, but then again Gladys is the best singer female singer ever signed to Motown and Smokey has never been one of my favorites, (and he gets runner-up to Kenny Rogers for tightest face). I've gotta agree that your guy, Taylor was very good, both on his song and the Beatles thing, but performance of the night goes to....and the REAL American Idol 2007.....

Melinda Doolittle

As Randy would say...she blew it out the box! She made Bebe and CeCe Wynans sound like back-up singers. In both the group sing and singing with them she looked and sounded like she was having a blast and showed that she's as good a singer as has ever been on AI. In a way maybe it's good that she didn't win, maybe she'll have a little more control and won't have to sing whatever over-produced pap the execs come up with, (I would love to help her pick songs for her first album).
